I’ve had a lot of questions lately about a certain topic very close to my heart, the sheer thought brings a smile to my face, so no it’s time to reveal that..

  

Jaffa Cakes are biscuit-sized cakes introduced by McVitie and Price in the UK in 1927 and named after Jaffa oranges. The most common form of Jaffa Cakes are circular, 2 1⁄2 inches (64 mm) in diameter and have three layers: a Genoise sponge base, a layer of orange flavoured jelly and a coating of chocolate.Jaffa Cakes are also available as bars or in small packs, and in larger and smaller sizes.The original Jaffa Cakes come in packs of 12, 24 or 36.(source:Wikipedia) 

Now hopefully that’s cleared things up and really the fact that you don’t have these bits of cakes goodness in your life is just WRONG! You should sue.

    Our son heard about Jaffa Cakes a few years ago and couldn’t stop talking about his intense need to have one. Last year for his birthday I was able to find a vendor who sold them on Amazon and would ship to us here in the States. He was absolutely delighted!

  4. Oh, yes, you can get them here. You just have to live in the right place. It is usually in a major metro area. I live in Chicagoland where there is a huge Polish diaspora. We can get the Polish equivalent, and they taste exactly the same. Not only that, we can get apricot, strawberry, black currant, green apple, and sour cherry flavors. They even sell a strawberry variation with white chocolate.
    Just a $1.00 a piece. It’s a Jaffa wonderland.

      1. No no that’s just the name. They’re like fried bread/batter with sweet toppings on it. Kinda like a pastry.

  6. MUST…HAVE…NOW! Maybe World Market has it, along with some ginger beer (which I don’t really know what it is, but my “light and stormy” recipe calls for it…with rum, of course).

  9. We don’t have these here,either!I guess I will have to make do with Choco-pies only.They are the closest substitute available here in India,sans the orange jelly,ofcourse.:/
    And the good ole winkies.I love those*_*
    But no jaffa cakes.:|

  10. I’m sorry, it’s me again. I was just reading your ‘pingback’ about Jaffa Cakes & now I’ve read this post. I just don’t like the (Wikipedia) description above. It’s missing something somehow, like it’s not descriptive enough. Or like saying Princess Diana was a nice woman. To the uninitiated, Jaffa cakes are to die for. I would describe them as the base being like a foam mattress, only soft, moist sponge instead of foam. Laying upon this mattress base is a piece of the most heaven like & intensely orange flavoured, jelly-sort of…thing. These two separate delights are then held together, by being bound in a rich, dark chocolate coating that tastes divine & completes the heavenly taste trinity. I love the orange jelly bit so much, that I usually break the chocolate off first, to reveal the orange sliver, lying alone atop it’s sponge bed. I then pull it away from it’s comfortable resting place & eat the spongey bit next, leaving the jelly part for last, which I devour like a starving werewolf, who’s waited too long for a full moon. Ooer! I’m sorry, I appear to have been carried away! It’s probably because I’m diabetic now & can only have Jaffa Cakes very occasionally. Sigh. I think America needs Jaffa Cakes though. The United States would be a much happier place with them, than without them I’m sure.
